IMPORTANT NOTICE!Due to unexpected high interest in SLMG this year, SLMG membership is now full as we have reached capacity. A new membership starts each September, on a first come, first serve basis, when we kick off the new season after the summer break. So if you are interested in joining, check back on our schedule to see the date of our first meeting, which should be posted sometime in August. You are also welcome to email us your contact information (name, email, and phone number) and we will try to contact you just prior to the season start to remind you. In the meantime, you may come as a guest to most Monday speakers as long as capacity allows for it that morning. Full members will be given priority. *Note for certain speakers, a "members only" attendance policy may apply. Who:
The South Leaside Monday Group (SLMG) is a non-profit community parent group that began in 1972. We welcome new parents and their babies, non-so-new parents and their toddlers and "veterans" with school aged children, to enjoy a chat and a cup of coffee while the little ones have fun under the watchful eyes of dedicated caregivers. The SLMG provides a forum to meet with friends, listen to speakers and discuss topics with others in the same stages of life. When:We meet every Monday morning from the middle of September to the end of May, with the exception of the holidays. Please join us for coffee at 9:15am. Speakers begin at 10:00am and end at 11:00am. Where:Meetings take place in the Traces Manes Centennial Building, 110 Rumsey Road between McRae Drive and Millwood Road (next to the tennis courts beside the Leaside Library). Street parking is available on Rumsey or McRae. Members meet in the main room, which is immediately to the left upon entering the clubhouse. Childcare rooms are down the hall. Children:Our experienced caregivers watch over your children in the room(s) just down the hall while you join the meeting. Children are divided into: Nursery (newborn to sitting), Toddlers (sitting to 2 1/2 years), and Preschool (2 1/2 to 5 years). Fees:We encourage membership in the group as the fees are low and are our primary means of covering costs (i.e. childcare, rent and insurance). Membership fees ensure we can continue to provide interesting and educational presentations; much needed "adult time" and; a fun, relaxing environment for local parents and their children. There is a maximum allowance of 2 visits as a Guest, after which we will ask that you become a Member. (The maximum allowance of guest visits will be exempt while membership is at capacity!) There is a $35 annual fee for those wishing to participate in the Social Events only.
